Ponte Winery Wedding in Temecula, CA :: Kelly + Dustin

Ceremony & reception venue: Ponte Winery, Temecula, CA

You know you’re in for an incredible wedding when this is one of the very first scenes you encounter at the rehearsal luncheon the day before:

Photo of Wedding Rehearsal in Temecula, CA

Having known this family for several years now, and having known that Kelly and Dustin have been planning their wedding for a little over a year and many of the circumstances and special dynamics surrounding their big day, I was already anticipating an emotion-filled, meaningful day. What unfolded was nothing short of a delight — from the ladies’ tear-filled getting-ready room, to the many laughs coming from the guys’ prep, to all the emotions and expressions (both subtle and moving) of their parents. I was so honored to be their photographer and so proud to be able to watch these memories being made.

I do have to give big shoutouts to my crew that day. My buddy Ed Atrero came and shot as my 2nd photographer, and my trustworthy assistant Erika was a huge help with my lighting. I also can’t forget to thank Helena Parker of Divine Events by Helena, who helped coordinate the day wonderfully. She really stayed on top of things and helped keep things on track.

What follows are some of my favorite photos from the day:

The next 3 photos of Dustin were shot by Ed:

Another Fearless Award

Woohoo — I won another Fearless Award in the last round of competition! Braggety brag, braggy brag brag. Granted, a wedding day is not about the awards I win. My brides and grooms hear me preach all the time about how their photos are about their special day, the vows they take, and all moments big and small that happen around them… but it sure is nice to be recognized.:)

Here’s how the team at Fearless Photographers describes what the directory is all about:

FEARLESS PHOTOGRAPHERS is a unique directory of the world’s boldest photographers who are not afraid to push the limits of wedding documentation to surprise you with extraordinary images from your wedding day.

And what is a “Fearless Award”?

Every two months a curated competition is open for submissions from photographers the world over. Of these submissions less than one out of ten images – 10% – are selected by our curators to include in the site. These top images are given the prestigious “Fearless Awards” – photographs that excel in redefining traditional wedding photography.

Old Towne Orange Engagement Session :: Marysia + Matt

Jones Victorian Estate engagement photos by Dexter Lo Photography

An engagement session in Orange, CA with Marysia and Matt? Sure, why not!:)

I’ve mentioned before that I particularly enjoy shooting portraits in locations that mean something special to my clients, so I was glad that Marysia chose places in Orange, where she grew up. In fact, we started off by shooting at the Jones Victorian Estate (where their wedding will be held in a few months), which is right behind where she went to school as a kid! And we finished it off by walking around Old Towne Orange — a favorite hangout of theirs… and mine, and several of my past clients:)

I’ll save more of the details about how they met and why I know they’re great for each other (and for me!) for later this summer, when I post their wedding photos. Suffice it to say that their connection was palpable, and that made for a kick-ass portrait session. Thank you Marysia+Matt for being yourselves and trusting me to be myself as well! Enjoy my faves below…
